I went on a rampage at Avon.com one day and this eyeshadow compact caught my eye. I like to be able to contour and it was nearing summer so I thought this could be a great addition to my daily routine. I do like 3-4 of the colors but I find that they fade pretty quickly. I also noticed that they had a little bit too much red/coral for my taste. It made my skin seem dull and almost rusty-looking. It is also a bit more sparkly than what is shown in the picture. The tones in the Paradise Green looks like they may have been a better fit for me. It glides easily on the eyelid and I find they last longer if I apply foundation on my eyelids underneath. Overall, if it is on-sale I would say go for it, it was a good find even if I only use a couple. Price-$7.00 at Avon.com
I have been searching for a primer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Mac's primer is good but it has a hefty price-tag to go with it. I saw this at wal-mart and decided to give it a shot. Makeupalley.com rates it a 3.1 out of 5. It is a little startling at first because the liquid that comes out is orange. This threw me at first but I decided to try it anyways. I put it on and it did help my makeup go on smoother. It did, however, make me look a little big orange. I am not quite sure why because other reviews I read said it blended in pretty well. It does work well as a primer but if you are as fair as I am (I am the lightest shade in every foundation), you might end up looking like an oompa-loompa :) Price- $7 at Target
Covergirl's Clean foundation makeup was the first foundation I ever tried. Back then when I had perfect skin and no scarring, it worked wonderfully. It is light and stays on for most of the day if used under powder. After my face went crazy and I now have acne scars, I found that this foundation is not quite enough. If you have perfect skin and are looking for a very light foundation, this would be perfect for you. Price- $6.00 at Rite-Aid
This Covergirl 3-in-1 ultimate finish compact is useful for a bit more coverage. While I didn't enjoy the consistency, it does help if you wet the sponge before you apply. It does have more coverage than the foundation above, but still not quite enough for me. It does stay on all day but I found that it caked in some places. If you are looking for a cheap foundation with medium coverage and don't have too many blemishes, this may be the one for you. Price- $7.00 at Rite-Aid
I searched and searched for a cleanser that could take off my makeup but was not too harsh for my delicate skin. This was one of the top-rated cleansers I found online and so I bought it. I love that it takes off my makeup but doesn't leave my face feeling red or stripped of its own oils. (although I have to admit when I use my toner, I usually do find some leftover makeup on the cotton ball) but it works better than any other product I have tried, including Cetaphil's daily facewash. Definitely a must-by for sensitive skin. Price-$4 at Wal-Mart
While at Rite-Aid one day I saw a 2-for-1 deal for NYC. Their products were cheap and so I thought I would try a couple. I tried their mosaic color wheel in peach glow, all-over correction stick and their Smooth Skin Liquid Foundation.
I'll start off with the positive, I LOVE this color wheel. It really does make my skin glow and has not broken me out (which most things do) I want to buy this in every other color they have. I have since seen it in magazines as a favorite amongst beauty geeks. Normal price- $4 at Rite-Aid or Wal-Mart.
As far as the correction stick goes, I didn't even wear it a day. I put it on and it felt waxy and I immediately washed it right off (feeling my pores getting clogged in the process). I would not recommend this concealer, even for the dollar I paid for it.
I tried the foundation out and was not impressed. I looked up some reviews on makeupalley.com (one of my favorites websites for this stuff) and it had mixed reviews. I have a lot of acne scarring and an uneven skin tone and this did nothing to help it. It felt caky on my face and Ieventually returned it (Yes, I'm that cheap that I will return $4 foundation if I don't love it)
Most of the products I'm going to review are under $20. I am on a budget and do not like to spend hundreds trying new things. I am a fan of going to Big Lots and finding deals as well as scouring through the paper to find coupons and 2 for 1 deals at Rite Aid. I have found that even though I am on a tight budget I can find things that can make me feel beautiful.
I created this blog because I do a lot of searches for beauty products online. I am obsessed with trying new things and thought I'd share my thoughts on the products I try. I am 24 yrs old with VERY sensitive, acne-prone, oily skin. Take my thoughts and do what you like with them! Hopefully I can save others from having to try out every product out there to find the best ones
Happy Hunting!
